Dan has lived in Harwinton for over 28 years and is a proud veteran of the United States Air Force, including during the Vietnam War. He has played an instrumental role in a variety of industries as a computer engineer. In his roles as an embedded systems engineer, he has enabled the aerospace and medical research industries to take tremendous strides in creating a better future. He has been a member of the Zoning Commission for 14 years and is currently the Chairman.
John is currently on the Board of Finance. John ran his own excavating company for 30 years. John has also served the town of Harwinton in a variety of ways. He was our town’s Highway Supervisor for 16 years. John is also a 52 year veteran member of the Harwinton Volunteer Fire Department and was Chief for 20 years of that time. Running his own company and managing budgets for public works and the volunteer fire department has taught him the value of a dollar, how to manage money and investments as well as how to work with people.
In his spare time John enjoys spending time with his wife of 48 years Cynthia, as well as his two daughters who also live in town. He also enjoys restoring antique farm tractors (mostly John Deere). He also likes to fix farm machinery for local farmers.
A Harwinton Resident for 50 years, Terry has been involved in multiple Town Government and Civic Organizations. As the Chairman of the Board of Assessment Appeals he finds it important to ensure everyone is equally assessed and taxed.
He looks forward to continuing to serve on the BAA and working for his community.
Scott is seeking re-election to Region 10 BOE and currently serves as Chairman. A retired Financial Industry executive who holds an MBA in Finance and a Juris Doctorate from UCONN. He is a 20 year resident of Harwinton along with his wife Sandra and daughter Olivia. While he serves on multiple Boards, he stated that the most valuable and fulfilling is the BOE. With his daughter attending HarBur Middle School, both her and her friends directly benefit from the Board’s hard work in providing the best education in the area. Fiscally responsible, high quality education that prepares our children to be successful in whatever path they choose when they leave us. Preparing our children for college, trade school, small business or the military is our focus. We realize that we are only one chapter in their lives, we strive to be the foundation for their future success. In the past year the Board approved 5 courses at LSM that gives student’s actual UCONN college credits. We have done a lot of good work and have still more to do. That is our commitment.
A lifelong resident of Harwinton, Alex attended Lewis Mills High School and is now the head coach of the JV Boys Soccer team.
Continuing his education at Alvernia University, he graduated with a bachelors in Health Science and a masters in Occupational Therapy. During these years, Alex became especially involved in volunteer work eventually becoming a community service organizer.
Returning home to pursue a career in behavioral health, he is certified as an OTR/L and works with young adults at Mental Health Connecticut in Torrington. Alex is passionate about preserving the small town charm of Harwinton and aims to work towards protecting those qualities and uplifting our community for the better.v
Since 2013, Tamara Barry has run a Christmas tree farm in Harwinton with her husband, Bob. With a bachelor’s degree from Pennsylvania State University, her career has included long stints in journalism, non-profit fundraising, and ranching. As a current Zoning Board Alternate she strives for fair, reasonable, and transparent application of the regulations.
Vicky moved to Harwinton in 1997 so that her 2 children could attend the Region 10 school system and she is proud that they are both very successful products of that education. Vicky is a CPA and Project Management Professional (PMP) who has held many leadership roles throughout her diverse career. She will bring a strong conservative voice to the BOE to ensure we provide quality education at an affordable price, protect the rights of parents and the innocence of youth.
